My Breen Aviary
Year: 2010 Holiday: Other Shared by: Breenbaubles
A rainbow of cheerful summer birds fill my Breen aviary!
I found this large decorative birdcage on sale for half-price at Pier 1. I loved the look of it and how it reminded me of both a birdcage and a Victorian conservatory building. I put a branch inside and added my small Inge solid color budgie birds first. The colors of the birds are orange, green, pink, violet, blue and yellow. So I used those colors as a starting point for adding my Aviary Finials, Songbird Santas and Zenskeps. I hung some of the Zenskeps inside from the branch or the lid of the birdcage so they'd look like birdhouses. I also tucked some mini eggs that fit the color scheme and theme into small nests (it was hard restraining myself to not add too many mini eggs!). I wanted to add the Splendid Santas because they fit the color scheme, had birds and they also repeated the egg theme too--but they wouldn't stand by themselves. I found these small clear glass tealight holders which worked out perfectly though. The feet of the ornament fit down into where the tealight goes and the coat rests on the glass rim. I don't think they look too bad--probably better than adding ornament hangers. I also made the glittered holders for the Aviary Finials. For the bow I again repeated all the colors buying the same sheer ribbon in five colors as well as the center one that's a sheer ombre stripe which worked well with all of them.
The result is a rainbow of cheerful summertime color! Chirp, chirp! Pam A.
