    For the Love of Beeskeps!
Year: 2009     Holiday: Other     Shared by: Breenbaubles
My bee tree doesn't actually go up until about the middle of July to about the end of August. But a couple of weeks ago I was wandering around Home Goods and came upon this aged cream color long (36") metal candleholder that looked like twig branches and had three birds and a couple of small nests mounted on it. It has seven platforms that are intended for pillar candles but the instant I saw it my mind flashed "beeskeps"! I could put my beeskeps on the platforms and it also had some twig looking branches that I could hang other smaller ornaments from too.

The color palette is very muted looking with cream, gold, sage green, pale yellow, light brown, etc. In keeping with the theme, I added two small twig nests to hold a couple of bee mini eggs and pulled out my gold Breen nests and the Beeskep Tree too. The beeskeps are sitting on green Spanish moss and I've tucked some into the nests as well. The two weathered looking shutters behind the display I also found at Home Goods on a separate trip later. (You just never know what you'll find there!) Each has a taupe/cream color fabric pocket on the front that's filled with a few silk flowers. The flower colors are the same subdued colors as in the rest of the display so that worked out well. I just added some small hinges to put them together so they'd stand. They make a nice backdrop I think. I'm really pleased with how this display all came together -- I think it was meant to bee! Pam A.
